Chaos

What is Chaos? You really want to know then try traveling by a Mumbai local  train during rainy season. What I saw today morning was nothing like what I had seen earlier.
All the trains are delayed by atleast 30-40 mins. I had a friend of mine with me. Together we waited on one of the platforms with no luck. So we decided we’ll take the train from another one where a train was expected in the next couple of mins. It was total chaos on the arrival of the train, kind of a mini stampede on the platform and to our bad luck we were stuck in it. We had to jostle our way to the ladies compartment. By the time we reached the ladies compartment it was jam packed, leaving no place for even an ant to enter. We managed to find a place to stand and wait for the next. Getting in the train was yet another feat. And not to mention getting out of the train was no better either.
End of story… Nope.Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost(The movie is not over as yet dear friend). Now we have another task at hand. Find a cab to reach office. Keep running after every taxi coming your way in the incessant downpour only to find out that either the cab is already occupied or the driver simply doesn’t like coming to your locality. There are also very polite and co-operative co-passengers who make it all the more adventerous. Finally you reach office half-dead. What an adventurous life!!!

  1. Ya it sounds like one when you are not a part of it. 🙂

And no luck can save me unless either I shift my house closer to office or the western railways improve their system.

The reason it happened: I read in today’s newspaper that 33 peak hour trains were canceled. Then what happened yesterday was not very unexpected.

  2. You know when we got our first rains in Delhi… It took me 2 hrs to get home ( and of course add another half for finding an auto) and I thought Delhi halts as rainfalls!

But I should revise it and say… India halts as rainfalls!

Lesson: the systems are not going to change so you do, carry an extra snack in bag, a change of clothes, enuf battery in the phone that will help you pass time etc etc.. And its rainy season guys, just roll- up your pants and n’joy!

PS: Sapna, consider bunking office next time and having a nice hot thali at Thakkar’s 🙂

What say you?
