J for Janapada

Janapada/Jaanapada ( ಜಾನಪದ) is folk in Kannada. Posting a video of Kannada Folk Dance “Ghallu Ghallenuta” performed on Indian Independence Day celebrations in Perth. There is some background noise but you will still enjoy the performance.

Hope you like it 🙂

  1. An interesting show – thanks for sharing, Sapna. The girls well merited the applause.
I love the comment on your profile – “nothing really special but fortunately for me I am born in an age where being ordinary is special and a common man is celebrated. ” That’s a lovely sentiment. And it sounds like you are well on your way to discovering who you are.

  3. Lovely, I say! I wonder, how you chose this one! a perfect bit for the piece you wrote for ‘J’. I watched the Video to its full length.

I have great respect for Karnataka’s culture, language, poetry, education, people and etc.. I read a few of them! I heard a few kannada jokes too! Joyful, thoughtful and concerned people! Even cricketers from Karnataka claim it without claiming.

I am connected to Karnataka through many connections. I am glad, to have looked at this one. This is my first time to watch a Kannada folk dance. Thanks.

What say you?
